“Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now.” – Alan Lakein. As a determined professional, I've always believed in the power of intention and planning. Through my articles and social media presence, I've shared my journey of goal setting and the small, yet significant steps towards achieving them. Since September 2023, I've embraced a morning ritual, which includes reading a devotional, journaling, exploring the art of manifesting, and mind mapping. This article aims to simplify these three concepts: journaling, manifesting, and mind mapping, guiding you towards your greatness, one step at a time.
1. Journaling:  Harvard Business School highlights the benefits of journaling, showing a 25% performance increase in those who journal daily compared to those who don't. Journaling is a versatile and personal practice. For me, it begins with a blank sheet of paper, where I allow my thoughts to flow freely. My 5am routine starts with a cup of tea (I’m really into Yerba Mate tea right now), Wordle, and a devotional. Sometimes, I reflect on whatever happened the day before, or things I want to share with my kids as they get older. Other times, I focus on my professional challenges and goals. Recently, I've been using this space to visually map out my personal/professional brand and aspirations. It's exhilarating watching these ideas take shape on paper as they come to life.

2. Manifesting:  My interest in manifesting grew from a simple walk, where two significant thoughts struck me: my desire to become a COO (and one day CEO) and the second obtaining my dream home as I walked by a house that screamed “you should live here one day!” It was like the world was giving me a budget and I couldn’t let it go. So, I delved into podcasts and articles on manifesting, learning that it's more about allowing than acquiring. Key practices include:

While I'm not yet a COO or living in my dream house, this practice has sharpened my focus and excitement, allowing me to be in the now while preparing for the future.

3. Mind Mapping: Back in third grade I learned how to map out a story. It’s a basic concept that I hadn’t thought to put into practice for mapping out my future and what I want to achieve. The concept of mind mapping, which I rediscovered through Elaine Welteroth’s "Design your Career" Masterclass, has been transformative. It's a creative approach to laying out your goals and aspirations. To start mind mapping:

I found that with each bubble I drew, I started to explore new paths and possibilities I hadn’t considered before.
The journey of personal and professional growth is a mosaic of intention, reflection, and strategic planning. Through journaling, I’ve discovered the power of introspection; manifesting has allowed me to invite my dreams into reality, and mind mapping has helped me chart a tangible path towards them. These tools are more than just practices; they are gateways to a world of possibilities, enabling you to shape your futures with clarity and purpose. As you embark on your own journey of self-discovery and goal setting, remember that each step, no matter how small, is a leap towards realizing your potential. Let’s step into the future with confidence, equipped with the tools to not just dream, but to achieve. The path to greatness begins with a single, intentional step – are you ready to take it?
