The Different Types of Camper Covers

Camper covers are important when it comes to protecting your investment and there are many benefits. When finding the right camper covers, there are different ones you want to consider, along with different features. 

Polyester camper covers are made up of layers of fibers or yarns. Polyester covers are the best at protecting against the harmful UV rays from the sun if you are going to be leaving your RV outdoors. 

A polypropylene cover works best in a colder environment but will still work well in warmer weather. The material is similar to many long sleeve shirts. These types of covers are resistant to water, cracking, and acid damage, but it is important to note that they aren’t completely waterproof.

This is one of the most common types of material and this material is found in bulletproof vests, toys, shampoo bottles, and grocery bags. When it is in a camper cover, it makes it tear and water-resistant. 

This material uses UV-resistant dyes and offers great protection against sun damage. It also has a waterproof coating that makes it a good all-weather cover for your camper. 

Besides choosing the material, you want to also find camper covers with some key features. 

Breathable Material: The cover should have a breathable material in order to keep out rust and mold when it is parked. The breathable material also ensures moisture won’t get trapped inside your camper. This is necessary for any RVs left outside in rainstorms or parked inside in an environment where mildew can build up over time. There should be at least three layers to get the highest protection. 

Securing Mechanism: Some covers will come equipped with non-scratch grommets and an elastic cord to make sure the cover won’t blow away in any strong wind. High-quality covers come with clips and cable locks in order to make sure you are able to tie down your cover securely to offer better protection. 

Waterproof Material: Many covers are water-resistant but having one that is completely rainproof or waterproof can help make sure your camper is fully protected against the elements. Some have ultrasonic seam technology that holds the fabric together with extra layers and can help prevent water from getting through. 

Size: You need to get a cover that fits the size of your camper. Check the measurements of the camper and then compare it with the size of the cover so you can make sure you will get a snug fit. You may be able to find a universal RV cover, but you want to make sure it fits properly, so you can ensure that dust and water stay out. 

The Environment: An RV cover should protect against the environment you are going to be parking in. For example, if you tend to park your camper in a hot region then you need a cover that will be heat-resistant.
