Interview with Victoria Nadler and Alyssa Abshier, Co-Founders & Creators, Amber Sol Collective

What inspired you to start Amber Sol Collective and how has it grown since then?
We first got the inspiration to start Amber Sol Collective while we were still freelancers in the same industry.  As we were spending everyday together managing an artist’s studio as our day job, we were also getting to know each other as friends, and were learning how well we worked together. We realized pretty quickly how much our artistic visions and career goals were aligned and had both been waiting for the perfect partner to come along. Our vision has taken us from freelance artists, to small business owners, and we’re still just getting started!
What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned in business?
Patience and communication! We’ve learned, as our first year as business owners, was also the year of a global pandemic, that all good things take time. Having the confidence and resilience to know that Amber Sol would eventually take flight was what kept us motivated and inspired. As for communication, as with any type of partner in life, you cannot have a successful relationship without good and honest communication.
What is your key to standing out in your industry?
Our key to standing out is to have something unique about you, that nobody else is doing. For us, that’s taking design and event trends, and putting our upscale-bohemian aesthetic into it. We never want to be recreating things that you can find elsewhere or have already seen a million times before. What we strive for, is our audience to see our work and notice Amber Sol Collective’s design eye. Be unique and don’t be afraid to push boundaries and limits.
What excites you most about what you do?
We love when clients come to us with themes and design ideas that we've been dreaming about and waiting to execute. There’s nothing better than when our visions align with an adventurous client who trusts our eye, style, and aesthetic to let us lean into more creative concepts and possibilities.
Rapid Fire!
How do you recharge after a busy work day?
A: I love going out in my neighborhood for a craft cocktail.
V: Taking my dog for a walk around the neighborhood and going out for dinner with friends.
What’s your go-to inspiration source (podcast, book, Instagram account, etc.)?
A: I got to Instagram for all the visual inspiration! Some of my favorite accounts are @_homedreaming, @lisamcconniffe, @fruitassembly, @themarisjones, and @stillherestilllife. I love taking inspiration from artists outside of my industry.
V: Instagram is a huge source for visual inspiration (@watts.place, @lisamcconniffe, @stylemefresh to name a few), as well as art/coffee table books!
What are 3 words you’d hope clients/customers would use to describe your brand?
