In our modern world, very few people practice self-introspection. Our lives have become dominated and controlled by technology and its many permutations. Very few of us have the opportunity, time, or willpower to put down our devices and understand ourselves, who we really are, and what makes us tick. If you have decided, however, that you would like to know yourself a little better, then we assure you that you have visited the right page. Yes, we hope that right here, we will help you to do a little bit of self-introspection and look inwardly at who you are.
In this article, we are going to offer you a few fascinating, perhaps painfully obvious, methods that people use to understand themselves better. We say painfully obvious because many of these are just that: obvious. With that said, we do not often smell the proverbial coffee right away!
It is important that when you do look into who you are that you do it carefully. Probing yourself and digging up old, long-forgotten traumas can be very dangerous. Give yourself time, and do not put yourself on a pedestal.
Here are a few fascinating methods people use to understand themselves better.

Spirituality

One of the most fascinating, unique, and irregular ways people find out about themselves is through spiritual practices, namely occult and esoteric rituals. One of these, life path numbers, is a very popular way that people find out information about themselves that they could not have otherwise known. This practice is unique to the individual, so one cannot possibly tell you what you will experience, what you will find out, or if you will find out anything at all. If you are inclined toward mysticism, then numerology, which is an ancient practice, could be a good shout.

Introspection

Who am I? Where am I? What am I? These are questions that you must ask yourself if you are struggling with your identity. They can often be answered quite easily, but you must dig deeper. You must look deep into these questions in order to find the answer to them. What comes to mind first is often not the truth – smoke and mirrors, as it were. You must give serious thought to these questions and spend time thinking about the answers to them honestly – you might not like what you find out.

Where Have I Come From?

In order to find out who you are, you have to find out where you have come from. When I say this, I do not mean the obvious ‘from this location/there/this person,’ but rather what obstacles have you overcome, what you have been through, and what you feel has held you back. You will often find out who you are simply by finding out where you have come from and what you have had to overcome. Where you have come from might be a painful question to answer.

Relationships

Look into your relationships and how they have impacted your life. Some relationships, you might find, have shaped who you are quite negatively. Try to establish whether you have any dependencies on other people or if other people have led you astray through your life. Your relationships play a very big role in who you will and have become. Your relationships must, in my opinion, be healthy in nature. Nonetheless, it is important that you look into the nature of your relationships and give serious thought to them to establish who you are today.

Surroundings

Many people look at their surroundings to find out about themselves. This is a very good way for you to find out about yourself, actually. You will often find that your surroundings reflect your personality and how you feel. If, for example, you live in a very dirty apartment, it is indicative that you simply cannot find the willpower to clean up or that you are just lazy. Equally, if your room is very clean, it could potentially be indicative of your mental health being good. However, this is not always necessarily true, and a clean environment is not a marker of good mental health, so look beyond that, too.

Behavior

Your behavior is another fantastic way for you to understand who you are. If you can rationalize and understand your behavior, even when you have behaved poorly, then you are on the right track and will soon understand yourself. Your behavior will often be very bad if you are not feeling good about yourself. Try to understand how your behavior impacts who you are and how you are impacting your behavior. Give this some serious thought and consideration if you truly want to understand who you are as a person.
In this article, we hope to have explained a few fascinating but good ways that you can better understand yourself. We hope that, with this article, you will be able to understand yourself. Thank you for reading, and please do come back and visit us again soon.
