Following a long and cold winter, your outdoor space may be looking a little worse for wear. It’s been too cold to do the gardening and you’ve wanted nothing more than to cosy up inside your house by the fire. You may now be looking at your garden and realising that it needs some love and attention to get it back to its best.

Current thinking around Covid-19 suggests that garden parties may be back in 2022 with social distancing unlikely to make a return, so you’ll be wanting to get your outdoor space in top shape to wow your friends and family as you share great times in your newly tended garden.

To help, we’ve compiled a list of four ways you can get your garden ready for 2022.

Tidy up borders

The winter winds may have caused havoc to your once-beautiful flowerbeds and garden borders, so you should tidy these up first.

Landscapers are experts at implementing the most impactful changes which won’t damage your garden: they can turn your outdoor dreams into a reality. We know this can sometimes prove a challenge, so a landscape gardener may be a terrific choice for you as long as it fits your budget

A fresh lick of paint

If painting your fences wasn’t one of your lockdown activities, they may require a fresh coat. Fences take up a large part of the view of a garden so getting vibrant and creative can really bring your garden back to life.

Once you’ve selected your paint colour, get the rest of the family to help you paint – it can be a wonderful activity for family bonding.

Light it up

Don’t let the darkness be the reason your summer garden parties are cut short:  get some feature lights to hang up around your garden.

Begin by wrapping fairy lights around trees and bushes; shrubbery tends to be large, so adding lights will brighten up an even greater area. Next, place electric lamps on your outdoor table so you can see your friends’ faces as you laugh the night away at your next party.

Pest control

With the great outdoors comes pest control. Critters can often ruin your positive feelings towards your garden if they continuously bother you while you’re trying to relax in your carefully curated outdoor space.

Try using natural pesticides on your plants so that pests do not destroy them. Equally, using fewer artificial chemicals will prevent harm to any creatures essential to pollination, ensuring your garden will look great all year round.
