In March 2022, the International Charity Foundation Future for Ukraine began operating. The fund helps Ukrainians affected by the russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Future for Ukraine team
Since the beginning of the russian-Ukrainian war, millions of people have fled Ukraine and moved to neighbouring European countries. Ukrainian law prohibits men aged 18 to 60 from leaving the country during martial law, so women and their children mostly have crossed the border. Once in conditional security, many displaced Ukrainians are willing to help their country. Among them is the team of the newly created Future for Ukraine Foundation.
In early March, the Foundation was formed in Poland, a country with a great number of displaced Ukrainians. The FFU office is Warsaw-based.
The Foundation team consists of ten hard-working women who cannot stand aside from horrible events in their country. Before the war, most of the team worked in public relations and communications.
“The decision to create a foundation was both logical and emotional. The war affected each of us in one way or another. Due to the russian military aggression against our cities and civilians, we had to evacuate. However, our relatives and friends, our whole life, remained in Ukraine.
We are safe now, but we cannot think of anything else but to help our country. We know firsthand what is most needed by people who are now in the zone of active hostilities or fled their homes,”, says Anna Kovalyova, co-founder of the Foundation.
FFU mission
Future for Ukraine is an International Charitable Foundation, created by Ukrainians for Ukrainians. The organization brings together volunteers and professionals, NGOs and businesses worldwide to support victims of russian war against Ukraine.
The mission of the Foundation is to support Ukrainians. The team believes that only by supporting each other in difficult times can we care about the future of Ukraine as an independent European state.
"Ukraine does not have the opportunity to take care of everyone. Currently, the key task of the state is to protect its existence and the rights and freedoms of its citizens. That is why people and charitable organizations in the rear must cover humanitarian requests as much as possible, ”, claims Olena Sotnyk, the FFU Vice President.
Foundation Activities
Today, the Future for Ukraine Foundation has decided to focus on two areas of work. The first is the medical care of children and adults affected by the fighting in Ukraine. It includes assistance with prosthetics, surgery, rehabilitation, long-term treatment and more. Help is provided both in Ukraine and abroad. Now the Foundation has announced the collection of applications for medical care from Ukrainians. To do this, fill out the form on the official website.
The medical field also includes assistance to medical institutions in Ukraine with medicines and equipment. In particular, the Foundation collected and delivered the necessary annual supply of medicines for patients at the request of the Khmelnytsky Regional Center for AIDS Prevention and Control. Since the beginning of the war, the number of patients there has doubled. Many of the patients came to the institution from hotspots.
The second area of ??work aims to support temporarily displaced persons from Ukraine abroad. The Foundation announced a fundraiser to create a network of Ukrainian centres for the adaptation and psychological support of Ukrainian children in European cities with a sufficient number of migrants. The Foundation is also exploring the ways of organizing Ukrainian classes based on Polish educational infrastructure.
“Ukrainian children who have experienced war and evacuation need a safe environment where they can communicate with their peers and learn in their native language. We want to create such centres where they can receive psychological support, relax from the language barrier, share their own experiences and just be children, ”, says Olena Sotnyk, Vice President of the Foundation.
