After months of nominations, most recently this week’s six Golden Globe nominations, season two of Big Little Lies was confirmed this week. As if this news wasn’t breaking enough for dedicated fans, it was also released that Andrea Arnold will be directing the second season, alongside executive producers Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. The women-to-women perspective is drawing attention as an even more effective platform to discuss such intimate themes prominent in the first season, with abuse, anxiety and motherhood.

Beyonce: From Single Ladies to This Lady’s Single

This week, Beyonce’s “Perfect” duet with Ed Sheeran topped Billboard’s Hot 100. It’s been nine years since Beyonce snagged the No. 1 position with her hit “Single Ladies” as the song represents quite the opposite appeal for fans. 

All about falling in love and finding your soulmate with lyrics like “I found a love to carry more than just my secrets…” the melodic harmony offers what some may argue as this year’s hottest love song, and also, somewhat of a soundtrack for the winter season.

The New Year Brings Omarosa Manigault’s Departure from the White House

Omarosa Manigault announced this week that she is leaving the White House “to pursue other opportunities.” Manigault joined the Trump Administration as one of President Trump’s famed African American supporters, after her appearance on The Apprentice, and worked as the director of communications for the White House Office of Public Liaison. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders says that Manigault’s official resignation will not be effective until January 20, 2018.

Selena Showcases a BFF Post Fans Can Relate To

On Wednesday, Taylor Swift celebrated 28 years and as with today’s social media norm, many took to Instagram and Twitter to share their birthday wishes for the singer. Selena Gomez’s candid Instagram video and the heartfelt accompanying message was one of the outstanding posts, and one, followers had been waiting for as headlines agreed the post “did not disappoint.” Think you have pressure to share a personal birthday message?

Iranian Artist Shadi Yousefian Showcases in L.A.

As a part of Roshi Rahnama’s “AdvocArtsy,” its newest gallery referred to as “The Space,” is currently showing work by Iranian multimedia artist Shadi Yousefian. The artist says, “all of my work to date reflects the desire to capture and distill some of the essence of my own life as an immigrant, but to also connect it to a more universal experience.” Yousefian’s exhibit opened this week, marking the inaugural exhibition of “The Space” and a gallery geared toward raising awareness around Iranian Contemporary Arts.

Meghan McCain Shares Gratitude for Joe Biden’s Support

This week, Meghan McCain and Joe Biden appeared as co-hosts on The View. After McCain brought up her father’s cancer diagnosis–the same as Biden’s late son, Beau–Biden switched chairs to comfort McCain and answer her questions about the road ahead. “If anybody can make it, your dad…her dad is one of my best friends,” Biden said as he took McCain’s hand and spoke to the audience and camera. His message was full of hope, saying “we will beat this damn disease” but also full of hope for humanity as social media flared to address the bridge between parties (Biden, Democrat and McCain, Republican) that this interaction offered.

The Gals of The Golden Globes

This week, The Golden Globe nominations were released, showcasing the plethora of female talent up for awards, from Laura Dern in Big Little Lies to Michelle Pfeiffer in The Wizard of Lies, Jessica Lange in Feud: Bette and Joan to Ann Dowd in The Handmaid’s Tale. Lady-centric shows such as The Shape of Water, The Post, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and, of course, Big Little Lies, and Feud: Bette and Joan received much attention from the Association and leave much to be anticipated for the 75th Award Show on January 7, 2018.

Gigi Hadid’s Armpits are Trending

After an appearance in last week’s trending posts, the controversies of Love Magazine’s Love Advent continues, this week, with Monday’s Day 11 post starring Gigi Hadid. The internet set fire after Hadid’s video reveals armpit fuzz, with followers asking what this may signify for the model. Followers later argued that the fuzz was from her jacket, which clung to her after working up a sweat. Regardless of the unsolved debate currently taking place across the Internet, it seems the one thing to arise from the video is that whether it was hair or fuzz, the video was untouched; speaking volumes for Love Magazine’s campaign to empower women.

Two Women Among Australia’s First Same-Sex Couples to be Legally Married

After Australia officially legalized same-sex marriage last week, same-sex couples began submitting their applications that begin a one-month waiting period–something all couples have to submit in Australia before being wed. Two women, however, obtained a waiver to bypass the one-month waiting period, in order to have their wedding next week. Stephanie Dyball and Megan Stapleton were tired of waiting for the laws to change, thus booked their wedding a year ago. With this proof of booking, they were able to obtain the waiver successfully, for the wedding they’ve been waiting for since 2012.
