Summer Travel Must-Haves

Shares

We’re in the throes of summer and we couldn’t be happier – the sun is shining, the beach is perfect, and we love our outdoor happy hours. But we’re itching to get away, and the travel bug is at full force. So, if you are headed somewhere fabulous this summer (we’re jealous, by the way), here’s a roundup of must-have products to carry with you – all by companies created by or ran by women!

Amanda Wakes Up

A great beach read is a new work by Alisyn Camerota, co-anchor of CNN's New Day.  AMANDA WAKES UP is a delightfully funny debut novel about the role of the media, the changing landscape of cable news, what “truth” is, and the daily struggles of journalists to get it right in a ratings-driven climate—not to mention deeper struggles about her own identity, what it means to be a good journalist, and how to ensure fair and objective reporting.

Away’s The Carry On

Launched by two former Warby Parker execs, Jen Rubio and Steph Korey, Away launched with a single smart suitcase, The Carry-On, which includes a USB charger to power devices on the go. Now, the brand offers an entire line of minimally designed hard shell luggage and travel accessories.  Suitcases ship for free in the US via UPS or via bike messenger from their New York store, have a 100-day trial, and come with a lifetime warranty (many luggage companies come with one or two year warranties and weigh up to 20 pounds).

Brass Tile Mirror Go-Comb

Tame knotted, tangled beach hair with this lightweight and credit card sized comb. Its compact size makes it easy to carry with you wherever you go, in your wallet, clutch or beach bag. The comb features a mirror on one side, which can be used for makeup touchups on the go. Personalize your Go-Comb with your name or initials.

Heather Burkman, 31, is the founder of Go-Comb and lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.  She has a background in design and marketing, graduating from Cornell University. She previously worked at Etsy for four years, helping to build and improve the platform that supports so many independent designers and makers.

Circ Cell's Luxe Travel Eye Care Kit

She decided to take matters into her own hands and develop a highly nourishing line with advanced ingredients that produce real results.

Peanut

Peanut is an app created by and for the incoming generation of mamas. It takes things like common interests, values, and age of children into account before displaying other nearby mamas to potentially “match” with, and it encourages in-person meetups by taking the hassle out of scheduling. The app features a location toggle you can turn on and off. You can either choose to only see women near your home, or you can set it to show you women near your current location (great for those working and traveling mamas!). It's no secret that motherhood can feel isolating at times, and it's great to have a support network of likeminded women who understand what you're going through. Peanut brings women together and it's perfect for mamas traveling who want to meet women from all over the place they can relate to!

Endurelash Organic Cloth

Patent-pending EndureLash was founded by Nikki Huebner after she decided she'd had enough of the medical field and wanted to become an entrepreneur. These cloths are perfect for travel make-up removal. No bottles, wipes or lotions needed, they will remove your eyeliner or mascara off with just a couple of strokes at the eye - and are a huge money saver in the long run. We love.
